TESTIMONIES

The Log House has been sold and the Far West Cultural Center is no longer extant. Thank you for your interst and patronage since 2000.

Mike, I've been telling everyone to look at your website.    Thank you.

FarWestHistory.org is a wonderful internet site which contains a LOT of LDS history in Missouri:
Mike has been EXTREMELY helpful with my research on my LDS pioneer ancestors. He dedicates a LOT of his time to helping preserving the history of Far West, Caldwell County, Missouri-- [where Haun's Mill is located.] The site includes a portion of Allen Joseph Stout's journal- you can find it on the "Links" page.
During the Far West period, Hosea & Allen Stout & their family lived in the "Rich Branch.".
The site includes an interactive map page with additional links to a lot of histories, biographies, autobiographies, documents, etc. (below the map). I love the map, because it helps me see the relationship between the various towns in northwestern Missouri. The history of Louisa Taylor Stout's parents & family is linked from this page. Another history of Oliver & Nancy Cressy Walker, the parents-in-law of James Henry Rollins, includes pictures.
The MMFF on-line store has some GREAT books which are not very much money. Some are only $7-$8.

Michael, I have been spending time looking at your Far West site.... very impressive. Someone has been spending lots of time creating it. Are copies of the Northwestern Missouri Interactive Map available? I would like to buy a copy. [Note: John Hamer has produced a book of maps of Missouri/Mormon sites which is now for sale at the MMFF On-line Store.] -Thanks, Gail [Willis]

Mike, Keep up the good work.   My wife teaches Seminary; she'll be using information from our visit and from your website to convey a greater appreciation of the Far West period of early Church history to her students. Thanks again!

Mike,  For some reason I have always had an interest in the Mormon historical sites in Missouri.  I read any information I can get my hands on.  Visiting these sites has increased my interest even more.  I wish that I lived a little bit closer.  I hope to see you again soon and possibly become more involved in accomplishing the mission of the various preservation organizations with which you are affiliated.  Thanks again, Mike!

Michael,   Your commemorative words at the city park millstone are well done.  I'm also most pleased to have the monograph on Caldwell County history by Dr. Bertha Booth... and it solved a mystery for me as well.  I remember two events from the summer of 1941, when I was six years old.   My grandparents Suter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August and sometime before that my three brothers and I walked tthe quarter mile to our mailbox and stood barefoot in the summer dust as several cars drove by on their way to Haun's Mill.  After reading Dr. Booth's book, I now know why. Thanks,
    -Harold and Dessa Spidle

Dear Mr. Riggs, Your knowledge of my ancestors and the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints touched me deeply. You and many others have done a lot of work.  We really enjoyed our visit to the church sites and wish we could have spent more time there.  Thanks for all you do.  Sincerely,
