FWCC Team Outing

Members of the Team visit Crooked River and Experience Dutch Oven Cooking

On 15 November 2003, several members of the FWCC Team gathered for a day long outing. First an early afternoon trip to Elmira to explore a stretch of Crooked River.

Mike, Sharon, Rachel, Shawn and their two sons, Janell and Mel Tungate

We reconnoitered on a farm about 1 mile southeast of Elmira. Our host and guide loaded us into the back of his pickup truck and took off across the fields. We had a great view of the river an found plenty of evidence of active beavers still living in the area.

It appears we were a bit too far upstream to see the Crooked River battle site.

Even Mike's map couldn't get us there.

After our outing, we had worked up quite an appetite, so we headed back to FWCC for dinner.

Shawn and Rachel set up the Dutch Oven cooking table back at Mike's

Evening temperatures cooled down quickly after the sun set, but we were warmed by sharing a great two course Dutch Oven dinner prepared by Rachel and Shawn.
