The function of this feature and when it was created is currently unknown. However, during this year's reconniasiance, Archaeologist Paul DeBarthe determined that this is man made. Topsoil is mounded up on either side- which would be an impossibility if it were a natural feature. It's placement is consistent with current understandings of milldam and mill location.
