In 1888, LDS members Andrew Jenson, Edward Stevenson and Joseph Smith Black visited the site from Utah. They readily located the well my means of the red stone. They also observed that the old milldam originally rested upon a solid ledge of rock immediately above a bank of yellow clay on the south shore of the creek. They determined the well site to be ninety-four yards north of west of the old milldam.
